University of Auckland spinout Engender has been sold to an international co-operative of dairy and beef farmers for an undisclosed sum. Co-founded by Cather Simpson, Engender used laser technology that could separate X- and Y- bearing bull sperm cells, giving farmers unprecedented control over the breeding selection process. The opportunity for an exit arose during capital raising for a Series B, which is great news for all of the early seed investors who will get at least 10x on their investments.
