The Endeavour Fund is New Zealand’s largest contestable research fund, with almost $250 million in 2018. In particular, this year there has been significant investment into supporting research and development with practical industrial applications, as well as transitioning to a low emissions economy. Of particular note are the teams from Landcare Research receiving $13 million to build new tools to improve forest ecosystem resilience to plant pathogens, and Bruce McDonald’s Center for Automation and Robotic Engineering Science at the University of Auckland receiving almost $17 million to further improve robotic automation in orchards and vineyards!
